They channel their imagination and creativity to influence the battlefield and protect their allies. Pictomancers do not see their creations as mere works of art, but as extensions of their own magical power.

The Power of Magical Art

Pictomancers revere art in all its forms, drawing their spells and magical powers from pure inspiration and creativity. Many Pictomancers seek to achieve a transcendent union with their art, rather than devotion to a divine entity or natural force. Their spells and magical abilities focus on manipulating colors and shapes, creating realistic illusions and spectacular magical effects. Pictomancers also have the ability to bring their works to life, creating temporary creatures to aid them in battle.

Manipulating Reality

For Pictomancers, reality is a canvas upon which they can paint their desires. They use their art to influence and manipulate the world around them, transforming drawings into protections, healing, or devastating attacks. Pictomancers are particularly opposed to those who seek to destroy or corrupt art and beauty, using their powers to preserve and protect creativity and inspiration in the world. They are often found safeguarding sacred artistic sites or seeking new sources of inspiration in exotic and dangerous locations.

Creating a Pictomancer

When creating a Pictomancer, determine why your character has such a strong connection to magical art. Perhaps your character hails from a culture where art is revered and artists are seen as sacred beings, or they discovered their power after an encounter with an artistic spirit in a dream. Your character might have been an ordinary artist before their creations began to come to life, or perhaps they were chosen by a divine muse to carry a message of inspiration throughout the world. Have you always used your art for adventure, or did you first spend time honing your skills in a workshop or art school? Maybe your art has been corrupted by dark forces, and you have embarked on a career as an adventurer to restore the purity of your creativity.

Quick Creation

You can quickly create a Pictomancer by following these suggestions. First, Intelligence should be your highest ability score, followed by Dexterity. Then, choose the artist background. Be careful not to neglect your Constitution.

Special Materials

The Pictomancer can find or purchase special materials to recharge or enhance their magical ink and paint flask. These materials are rare and valuable items that add a strategic dimension to the management of magical resources. (See the "Equipment, Items..." section.)

Spellcasting Focus

As a Pictomancer, you use artistic tools as your spellcasting focus for your spells. You can choose from the following options as your focus:

  • Magic Brush: A specially designed brush for channeling magic.

  • Enchanted Pencil: A pencil imbued with arcane power.

  • Chromatic Palette: A magical palette that allows you to mix and manipulate spells.

  • Mystical Canvas: A canvas on which you can draw your spells before casting them.

These focuses must be infused with your magic and can be used to cast your Pictomancer spells. Each focus can be customized and decorated according to your personal artistic style. A Pictomancer can also use a staff, transforming it into a giant brush, or a dagger, reshaping it into a quill or graphite pencil.
